Description
Nothing super-special here, just my drawing the ol' Mauler from Mekton II. I wanted to give it a better rendering than it got in the book. In order to make it look less like the Marasai Mobile Suit (from Zeta Gundam) or the Grimekaiser SPT (from Layzner) I gave it the colors of Dragonar's Falguen Metal Armor.
Borrowing an idea from Star Blade Battalion, I see the Mauler having a "variable cockpit." The idea is that when not in combat, the pilot is in the head and has a clear view through the canopy. When combat is imminent the pilot seat retracts down the neck and into the heavily armored torso. Sensors then slide into the head's open space and the canopy smokes over. Plus, the pilot seat can shoot back up into the head and the whole thing can detach and fly away as an escape vehicle. Always loved that idea. Thanks, Star Blade Battalion!

Ah yes, the good old Mauler from Mekton II, standard enemy hench-mekton, apart from the six-pack Zakars. Good times.... 
This version does look a lot cleaner than the original design. Some of those designs look like Mike didn't have a lot of time in the publishing deadline, so he took the completed rough and printed 'em. They still fired the imagination though!
